Introduction to Are You Ready for College
At this point, you have probably registered for class, reviewed your course syllabus, and purchased your textbook. If you spent over $100 on your textbook, it is possible that you and the textbook have already started off on the wrong page. It's probably large, full of pictures and tiny words. It may not be inviting or interesting at first, but since your professor required it and you've invested in it, you're going to have to develop a better relationship with it. The next three labs are designed to help you do that.
We will tackle best practices for completing the reading process for college-level textbooks. To do that, we will cover the following:
- Lab 1 - Pre-Reading Strategies
- Lab 2 - Active Reading Strategies
- Lab 3 - Post Reading Strategies
The Are You Ready for College section of this lab is called a mini-course. In other words, it is a part of a much larger course that goes into more detail about the things you will cover today. Therefore, the content and videos you see are not specifically for this lab. This content has been included in this lab at your instructor's request. At the end of each video, there is an option to join the "Are You Ready for College" community if you want to continue to have reading support for the rest of your college career and beyond.
So let's begin.
Mythology and Belief Lab
The Mythology and Belief Lab includes comprehension checks for your textbook selections and grammar skills for your paragraphs and essays. Your professor as customized your experience to meet the specific goals of your class.
The selections from the 2014 edition of Mythology and Belief (the attached ebook) have been enhanced for greater access for all learners. Therefore, you will be able to access the texts within each lab instead of searching through the ebook.
Certificate of Completion
At the end of certain sections, you will have a quiz. In order for you to receive a certificate of completion for this course, you will have to score at least 80% on each section. It should take about an hour to go through this process. If you don't have an hour, don't worry. You can stop and return at any point to complete the process.
Once you complete the final lab, you will receive a certification of completion.
- Download the certificate as a pdf.
- Submit a copy of the certificate to your instructor.
If you do not know how to submit your certificate to your instructor, contact them directly.
